Website hosting and domain info
Editing websites is difficult if you do not have one, so here are some links to sites that let you obtain a domain and host it fairly cheaply. Possibly you could do better than £10 for 2 years for a .co.uk domain, with free 10 Mb webpage space on a server, but I have not come across one I trust to be reliable enough, yet.
Namesco Useful to check if various combinations of keywords are available to buy or not. I use the Thesaurus Search in the DOMAINS page, look for it in the navigation tabs towards the top of the page. You are told if any names are available, then decide if they are worth getting using WORDTRACKER.
That site has other useful items, such as Wordtracker Keyword Research Guide (Download) or the useful substitute for the free Overture Keyword tool that now seems to be dead.

If you decide to buy a domain, you can either use Namesco in gratitude for their help, or more cheaply from Nameroute.
Nameroute do a .co.uk for £10 for 2 years, it used to be £14, may be again soon, you never can tell as prices fluctuate depending on competition, etc.
At present they are selling any .net domain for £1 (yes one pound, not a misprint), or £11 for 2 years, normally it is £10 for 1 year.
Finally, if you have a PayPal account you can order a domain easily from Nameroute, and the usercode, password and setup instructions get sent to your PayPal email address. If for some reason the email does not turn up from Nameroute in a few hours, raise a Trouble Ticket, remember your logon detals, and log in again a day later to see the updated reply from their support staff, IF you do not get an email saying your ticket number. This is because it indicates that your email provider has filtered out and blocked the emails from Nameroute. It happened to me, not all the time, just for a couple of domains I bought recently. A fault of the email provider, not Namroute. I buy all my domains from Nameroute using PayPal, most convenient.
Later on, after 2 years, if you decide to renew it, you have to use a Credit or Debit card, no option for PayPal on the renewal link unfortunately. Bear that in mind and be prepared to get a suitable Credit or Debit card account in time.

Whois registry lookup Useful to see who owns a domain that you may be interested in.
Geolocation. With this you can find the country in which almost any web site is physically located. Might be useful if you are trying to track down a scammer.
Drop Dates. You can use the features on this site to help you determine the most likely deletion date of a UK Domain Name in Suspended status. Suspended UK Domain Names typically drop 92 or 99 days from their renewal date.
Once you have got a domain, and made a webpage or more for it, you can see if you can get any decent ads served from GOOGLE ADSENSE using the tool at this site

Once you have a website, and possibly a business associated with it, consider advertising to friends, family and workmates, or even when meeting strangers, using Fast Cards. Leave some around where people might pick them up and be interested in visiting your website. Always bear in mind that fly-posting is illegal, and possibly also if you leave business cards on some advertising stand or display board that someone else has paid for, etc. Last thing you want is to find your domain host has cut you off due to complaints about how your site is being promoted. Consider also that leaving the card in a public place may constitute "litter", and that can lead to a fine larger than some thugs get for killing someone!!!
Make Money Finding Typos This relates to the other meaning of the site name "editing websites", and how I started this domain/website lark. I warn you that unless really talented and lucky, you will not be able to give up the full time job, but you can help cover the broadband and website charges with any luck.
